Starting-From-Scratch:
You: No prior knowledge.
Focus: Basics like reading tab, chords, and strumming. Playing/understanding after the first lesson.
Beginner:
You: Practiced basic material for months/years, frustrated (often from YouTube), still beginner level.
Focus: Clean up basics, get on the right track, start learning songs, and basic scales for soloing.
Intermediate:
You: Know basics, working on a few songs, but playing sounds poor (clunky strumming, poor soloing, wrong notes, unsure of song key, un-bluesy blues).
Focus: Rhythm & strumming, scales & soloing, extra chords, & techniques for better playing. Progress towards advanced level.
Advanced:
You: Know fretboard notes, all basic chords, modes & basic scales, decent strumming/handful of songs, good technique. Playing is stale/in a rut (poor soloing, accidental wrong notes, slow figuring out keys/scales/chords, inauthentic blues, intimidated by jazz, repetitive strumming).
Focus: Solve these issues to elevate your playing.
Online vs. In-Person: Online lessons are often better—no driving, illness, or distractions; complete focus on guitar.

Testimonials
"Dan is an incredible guitar teacher! I've tried 4 or 5 guitar companies over the last few years, but no one could teach me how to put it all together, play guitar lead, write my own songs, or play popular songs right off the radio until I met Dan. Now, I can't believe how easy it is! Absolutely worth it." -Charles C. (April 2014)
