Dan Dresnok Guitar Lessons
Let me help you become an amazing guitar player!
Get a critique of your current guitar progress, including strengths and weaknesses, with recommendations for success.
Learn everything related to guitar rhythm, including counting, reading, writing, tapping, picking, and strumming.
Learn everything related to guitar chords, including open (cowboy) chords, barre (closed), 7ths, extended, power, altered, shell, added, slash, hybrid, and more.
Learn everything related to guitar scales, including common pentatonics, major & minor scales, modes, and how to use them. *Learning scale shapes is EASY. We'll focus on how to use them without memorizing licks or riffs.
Learn everything related to arpeggios on guitar and how to use them as an essential soloing tool.
Learn lots of tunes & songs! This is such an important part of guitar learning that we won't overlook. We'll need songs & chord progressions to apply our new improv skills.
Become an awesome improviser. We'll focus on how to be creative & solo in ALL music situations, including rhythm guitar and all of the endless lead guitar opportunities.
We can use tab only if you prefer - that's fine! Or we can learn how to read sheet music if you want to expand into genres like jazz, classical, bluegrass, etc. - it's 100% your choice.
We can dive deep into music theory if you want, or we can learn only the necessary elements to break through to the higher levels of guitar.
We can learn fingerstyle or play with a pick (flatpicking) - also 100% your choice.
I can teach you how to master relative pitch ear training, so you can identify music notes by ear alone! *Very few guitarists have this ability, and even fewer know how to teach it.
Learn songwriting strategies to start writing your own songs! *I spent many years as a member of The Songwriters Guild of America.
Genres that I'm extremely qualified to teach you are blues, jazz, & bluegrass. That said, I love all music, so we can learn any other styles you choose.
We will work on whatever you want. I do have a curriculum and I'll make sure that EVERY student masters the essential basics early. Beyond that, we can work on leveling up our core guitar concepts (see above), learn songs, or whatever's on your mind.
Learning guitar should be fun for you! If it's not, then we're doing something wrong.
