Musical Styles: I teach a wide variety of styles. We can cover rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, and many others.
Song Learning: We'll work on the specific songs you want to learn. You choose the music that inspires you.
Additional Skills: Beyond just songs, we can cover essential skills like ear training, songwriting, and reading sheet music.
Study Materials: I have hundreds of lesson files ready for you. I will email you relevant PDFs, including tabs and chords, during our lessons.
Equipment: You do not need expensive gear to start. Either acoustic or electric guitars work perfectly for these lessons.
I can help you fix and improve your skills, regardless of your current experience level. Read the descriptions below to see where you fit.
Starting-From-Scratch
Your Current Level: You have no prior knowledge of the guitar or how to play it.
Our Focus: We'll start with the absolute basics. You'll learn how to read guitar tabs, play chords, and strum properly. You'll be playing and understanding your guitar after the first lesson.
Beginner
Your Current Level: You've practiced basic material for months or years, but you're still at a beginner level. You may feel frustrated by YouTube tutorials that don't offer feedback.
Our Focus: We'll clean up your basic techniques and get you on the right track. You'll start learning real songs and begin soloing using basic scales.
Intermediate
Your Current Level: You know the basics and are working on a few songs, but the music does not sound quite right. You might struggle with clunky strumming, hitting wrong notes, or not knowing the key of the song.
Our Focus: We'll fix these common issues. We'll work on rhythm, smooth strumming, and advanced scales. We'll also cover specific techniques to make your blues sound authentic and your soloing sound professional.
Advanced
Your Current Level: You know the fretboard, modes, and scales, but your playing feels stale or "in a rut." You might feel intimidated by complex genres like jazz, or you struggle to figure out keys and chords quickly.
Our Focus: We'll solve these specific technical hurdles to elevate your playing. We'll break your repetitive habits and expand your knowledge so you can play with total confidence.
Are online guitar lessons as effective as in-person lessons? Yes, online lessons are often better than in-person instruction. You avoid driving, traffic, and outside distractions. This allows us to focus completely on your guitar playing from the comfort of your own home.
What video chat program do we use? We'll use Google Meet for our video sessions. It is a free tool, and you do not need to download, install, or register any new software to use it.
How do I receive the lesson materials? I have a large library of lesson PDFs, including tabs, songs, and chord charts. I'll email the relevant files directly to you during our lesson so you have them immediately.
Where are you located? I live north of Atlanta, Georgia, and I'm in the Eastern Time Zone (EST). However, I teach guitar students from all over the United States.
What happens if I need to cancel a lesson? You won't be charged for canceled lessons. I simply ask that you give me reasonable notice if you can't make it to your scheduled time.
How can I contact you between lessons? If you have an important question or a scheduling issue, you can text or call me anytime.
